TWO Haddington restaurants are backing a campaign to ensure people have food on the table over the festive season.

The Waterside Bistro and Mazzoli’s at the Tyneside Tavern have teamed up with the Lammermuir Larder.

The good cause supports people throughout the Haddington area who are struggling financially to feed themselves and, potentially, their families.

Throughout November, both restaurants are donating £1 to the Lammermuir Larder for every food bill issued in their restaurants.

James Findlay, owner of The Waterside Bistro, was delighted to help out and described the initiative as “a great wee thing”.

He said: “We already donate potatoes to them weekly and Linda Mitchell, from the Lammermuir Larder, asked myself and Paul Kinnoch [from Mazzoli’s at the Tyneside Tavern] if we would be interested in raising money for Christmas.

“We said obviously we would help as much as we could.”

Customers can also make a further donation when they are paying the bill.
