A GROUP of volunteers have received a cash boost in their bid to continue saving lives.
East Berwickshire and Dunbar Area First Responders was established more than a decade ago.
Throughout the area, there are 31 defibrillators installed in publicly accessible areas.
The machines are used in the event of cardiac emergencies and are designed to be simple to use.
Now, a grant of £8,800 from Community Windpower and BeGreen Dunbar has been made to the group.
The funding will be used for: 15 sets of replacement defibrillator pads; four outdoor-suitable defibrillator cabinets and installation costs; a HeartStart defibrillator; six CPR training manikins; four anti-choking trainers; and two defibrillator training kits and training pads.
Anouska Woods, community co-ordinator at BeGreen Dunbar, said: “Alongside the installation of outdoor defibrillators available 24/7, this grant will ensure that even more people in our wonderful communities are CPR and defibrillator trained.
“At BeGreen, we can’t wait to get more involved with this amazing organisation.”
