BOMB disposal experts were called out to Yellowcraig on Saturday afternoon.

North Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team attended and images of the 'suspected ordnance' were taken for the benefit of Explosives Ordnance Disposal experts.

They were also concerned by the item and attended in person.

Following testing and x-rays, the item was exposed and removed before being identified as a disposed hydraulic ram.

A spokesperson for North Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team said: “A good call by our informant, showing even the experts had concerns over the item!

“If you find something on the coastline you are concerned about, dial 999 and ask for the Coastguard.

“It might seem odd dialling 999 for this, however this is the direct method of communication for contacting the Coastguard so please don’t worry about calling.

“Part of our core duties are to respond to such calls, set up cordons and liaise with the appropriate agency to manage this.”
