THREE people had to wade through the chilly waters at Belhaven Bay to get back ashore on Sunday afternoon.
Dunbar RNLI were called out to a report of three people stuck on Belhaven Bridge at about 1pm.
Facing a four to six-metre swell, rather than risk launching the inshore lifeboat, the decision was taken for the crew to get kitted up and go by Land Rover.
On arrival, they found three “very wet” people who had waded ashore.

A spokesperson for Dunbar RNLI urged people to keep safe during challenging conditions.
They said: “Coastguard teams from Dunbar and North Berwick also attended.
“While at Belhaven, a report also came in of a possible windsurfer in difficulties.
“Volunteers remained on standby until Coastguard teams established that he was safe and well.
“We are experiencing high tides and large swells at present.

“Please check tide times and watch out for surging waves if out and about at the coast.
“If you see anyone in trouble call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
