A yellow weather warning for rain will be in place impacting the whole of the county from 6am on Sunday until 11.59pm on Monday.

The Met Office stated: “After recent very wet weather, further heavy rain is expected to affect Eastern Scotland.

“Many parts of the warning area will see 20-40mm, whilst the wettest spots, most likely Southeast Scotland to Stirling, plus the higher ground of Angus and Aberdeenshire could see 50-80mm.

“In addition, overnight Sunday, strong winds with gusts 50-60mph are also probable along exposed parts of the coast."

Flood barriers will be placed in Musselburgh over the weekend as a precautionary measure following forecasts of high tides.

The flood barriers will be located to the west of Goosegreen Bridge on News Street.

A spokesperson for East Lothian Council said: "The council gets weather reports from Met office and also flood risk information from SEPA. This has advised that this weekend will see a period of high tides from Saturday through to Monday. Sea surge, waves and rainfall are predicted to further increase the level of the tide and river level around the mouth of the river Esk.

"As a precautionary measure to manage flood risk, demountable flood barriers will be placed out over the weekend to the west of Goosegreen Bridge on New Street, Musselburgh."
