A WARD at Belhaven Community Hospital will be used to deliver winter flu vaccines and Covid boosters.

Various works have been ongoing for several months, with ward one, a dedicated nursing home, reopening to residents earlier this year.

A spokesperson for East Lothian Health and Social Care Partnership confirmed that work was still ongoing at the hospital.

She said: “At this point, maintenance teams focused their efforts on carrying out the necessary maintenance works in ward three, a GP-led hospital unit. This second stage of the remedial works is now complete.

“Discussions are ongoing with local GP practices about reopening the hospital beds.

“In the meantime, ward three is temporarily being utilised by the vaccination team to deliver winter flu and Covid boosters, until ward two becomes available.

“Ward two, which is primarily used as an administrative hub, and will soon become a base for the vaccination team, is currently in the final stages of its remedial works.”
