A COCKENZIE man has been ordered to pay a fine after he shouted a threat of violence during an incident near his home.

Richard Russell admitted behaving in a threatening or abusive manner by uttering the threat at Winton Park on March 8 when he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week.

Russell had a not guilty plea accepted by the Crown to a charge of assaulting a man by spitting on his head during last Tuesday’s hearing.

Sheriff Gillian Sharp sentenced the 44-year-old to pay a fine of £145 to mark the offence.
