Musselburgh Rugby Club (MRFC) is offering free female rugby and fitness sessions to anyone interested.
These take place at the club’s purpose-built gym at Stoneyhill every Wednesday at 6.30pm.
It is hoped these new sessions will help for a women’s team at the club in the future.

Blair Stewart, MRFC vice-president, said: “MRFC is looking to re-establish our adult female rugby team. We know there is a huge opportunity to build adult women’s rugby in the county and we are ready to commit whatever resources are needed to get this up and running.
“However, we know it will take time, so we are looking to build a female rugby fitness group in the first instance to try to build momentum towards establishing a team and support group.
“We have girls’ rugby infrastructure across East Lothian, so this initiative is aimed at over-16s. MRFC is a fully inclusive and fun community club so everyone is welcome, irrespective of ability.
“We’re asking all interested adult women across East Lothian to come along and help us build something special.”
East Lothian has produced several female rugby talents including Liz Musgrove and Francesca McGhie, who have both been called up to the national squad.
