PLANS for two wind turbines on the edge of a village have been approved.

The turbines, measuring 17.8 metres to blade tip, will be sited on the eastern edge of Macmerry Industrial Estate.

Scamper Holding SSAS was given approval at the end of last week for the two turbines, which will be next to Scotland’s first vinyl-pressing plant, Seabass Vinyl.

Solar panels on the roof of the neighbouring industrial unit have also been given the go-ahead.

The planning officer’s report noted that the turbines were unlikely to be viewed from the A1 and the turbines would be associated with the buildings, helping to reduce their impact.
