SCOTLAND’S oldest working brewery has said “cheers” after scooping multiple awards.

Belhaven Brewery won both the Visitor Attraction of the Year and Visitor Attraction Manager of the Year at the 2023 Icons of Beer Awards.

The sought-after accolades, presented by the influential World Beer Awards, recognise the people behind the pints and highlight outstanding achievements by brewers, breweries and brands.

Fiona Matheson, Belhaven’s brand manager, was delighted to pick up the Visitor Attraction Manager of the Year prize.

She said: “I’m thrilled to be recognised by The Icons of Beer Awards and especially pleased that we’ve taken home Visitor Attraction of the Year for two consecutive years.

“Belhaven is the oldest working brewery in Scotland – it’s a very special place for our tours and events. And, of course, our beers are great!

“My team’s hard work creates a fantastic atmosphere where everyone is welcome and everyone has a good time learning about our heritage and our beer.

“I’m so proud that their hard work has been recognised.”

Belhaven Brewery also won two International Beer Challenge awards for its brews.

Belhaven Scottish Ale, which also won silver at the Scottish Beer Awards, received the Bronze Taste Award, while the Belhaven Craft Range picked up a Gold Design and Packaging Award.

Steven Sturgeon, head of marketing at Belhaven, said: “What a week of wins!

“The International Beer Challenge aims to reward and promote excellent beers from around the world. It’s an internationally recognised quality mark that directs consumers to the very best beers.

“Competition is stiff, so these awards are brilliant news for our customers and our people here at Belhaven.

“And the Icons of Beer Awards are a pat on the back for the whole visitor team, who create a consistently high standard experience for each and every visitor.”
