HADDINGTON’S history is being explored through a series of walks and talks throughout September.

Events are taking place at churches in the town, as well as the Trinity Centre.

Tonight (Thursday), Coralie Mills gives a talk titled “Tell-tale Timbers – Dating St Mary’s timbers” in the West Church at 7.30pm.

From tomorrow (Friday) to Monday, “Not So Big Dig” takes place at the nearby Holy Trinity Church from noon to 4pm each day.

On Saturday, Dr Jon Cooper gives a guided tour round 16th-century Haddington, from 10am and 2pm.

Later that day, Dr Cooper gives a talk at the Trinity Centre on the start of the Great Siege of Haddington.

Booking is suggested and the talk gets underway at 7pm.

On Tuesday, Lorna Colvin Maclean will give a guided tour looking at the “Hidden History of the Hidden Toun”.

Walks take place at 10am and 2pm and booking is £10.

Lorna Colvin Maclean and Dr Cooper will then team up for “Surviving the Siege of Haddington” at St Mary’s Parish Church on September 16 from 10am to noon. Booking is £10.

On the same day, Marie Macpherson and Lorna Colvin Maclean will present “St Mary’s Kirk – Cradle of Scottish Reformation” at 2pm; booking is £10.

Finally, Tom Addyman gives the U3A open lecture at St Mary’s Parish Church from 2.30pm on September 19.
