A Musselburgh-based dance school, which transformed its premises into a theatre following closure of parts of The Brunton, has resumed its classes for the new school year.

This year’s annual show at its own Stage Door Studios was a “huge success” for the Morag Alexander School of Dance.

After parts of The Brunton, where the show is usually held, closed due to a roof survey, it was decided to turn the main studio of the dance school into a theatre. The new venue was equipped with professional lighting, sound, curtains, wings and seating.

Two successful summer schools featuring musical theatre and dance were also enjoyed.

Dance classes are held for three to 18-year-olds, in styles including ballet, tap, and hiphop.

The timetable also includes parent and toddler dance for 18 month to three-year-olds, adult ballet, barre blast and “movers and groovers” for the over 50s. Musical theatre is back on Sundays for ages five to 18. A free trial class is available to all new pupils.
