A Musselburgh eatery has been crowned Restaurant of the Year at the Food Awards Scotland 2023.

Parilla Bueno Ayres, established Musselburgh High Street in 2017, serves Argentine inspired dishes.

The business won the overall title of Restaurant of the Year and was named Restaurant of The Year South East at the accolades at the voco Grand Hotel in Glasgow on Monday.

The culinary world came together to celebrate and honour the “finest establishments and individuals” in the Scottish food industry at the 9th Food Awards Scotland.

Parilla Bueno Ayres was opened by brothers Nazim Ahmed, who manages front of house, and Ateeq Rahman, who manages the kitchen.

Ateeq said: “At Parilla Bueno Ayres, our cuisine is deeply rooted in the flavour and traditions of Argentina. Our menu features a variety of grilled meats, which are the heart and soul of Argentinian cuisine. We carefully source our meat locally from the Scottish border, ensuring the highest quality and freshness. In addition to our meat offerings, we also have a selection of seafood options.”

He added: “We are incredibly grateful for the support and love we receive from our customers. Their positive feedback and appreciation for the flavour of our food motivate us to continue delivering exceptional dining experiences.”

He said recognition at the awards were “a testament” to the team’s “vision and hard work.”

“Their passion for their craft, combined with the warm hospitality they extend to every guest, has created an unforgettable dining experience that sets them apart,” he added.

He said: “We have expanded and opened up a new place together in Loanhead called Parrilla Argentinian Grill. My brother manages the restaurant in Loanhead, while I manage the one in Musselburgh.
