ST ADRIAN'S Church, Gullane, is holding its third annual pet service on Sunday.

The service takes place at 3pm and will be led by church rector, the Rev Simon Metzner, outside the building, weather permitting.

First held in 2021, the popular service invites guests to bring their pets for a celebration of our animal companions.

Mr Metzner said: “All are welcome; two legs or four. It’s a great chance to celebrate our pets and give thanks to God for them.

“We’ve only had dogs the past few years so we’re hoping to see a few cats or other animals come along this year. ”

As was the case last year, the four-legged guests will be offered a blessing from a dog bowl and will be the focus of the service.

Mr Metzner, of the Scottish Episcopal Church, will bring his two-year-old Labrador, Toby, to the service.

He added: “It’s a great chance to give thanks for our pets and all they do for us. We always get a good turnout for it and hopefully it is the same this year.

“We have lots of animal lovers as part of our church and we will be sure to see lots of pets turn up.

“If you don’t have a pet to bring you can bring a picture of one or just say hello to other people’s. Let’s celebrate together all things bright and beautiful!”
