A PORT Seton resident who assaulted his then partner has been admonished after a sheriff described the incident as “isolated”.
Brian Johnstone was found guilty of assaulting his partner following a trial at Edinburgh Sheriff Court.
Johnstone was found to have pushed the woman causing her to fall at an address at Dalrymple Loan in Musselburgh on October 2 last year.
Sentence was deferred for six months for the 62-year-old to be of good behaviour and he returned to the dock for sentencing last Tuesday.
Lawyer Paul Smith said his client and the woman were no longer in a relationship and the court was told the called for good behaviour report was not available.
Sheriff Kenneth Campbell KC said he was content to proceed without the report and described the incident as “a sorry story” and that he was “satisfied it was isolated”.
Sheriff Campbell warned Johnstone, currently of Links Road, of his future behaviour and issued an admonishment.
