A FEAST of entertainment, from Barbie the movie to a tribute to the great tenor Enrico Caruso, can be enjoyed in Musselburgh with The Brunton’s September programme.

After closure of parts of the building following a roof survey, Loretto School Theatre and Northesk Parish Church are hosting performances of comedy, theatre, music and film.

Acclaimed Scottish folk singer/songwriter, Alex Hodgson, has returned home after performing at the King’s Ghillies Ball at Balmoral. He brings “Are Ye Dancin’?” – a night of stories, songs and nostalgia and a full live band – to Northesk Parish Church this Saturday at 7.30pm.

International tenor Mark Milhofer pays homage to one of the most famous singers of all time with a recital of songs written by and for Enrico Caruso. The show, “Enrico Caruso – His Songs”, is on Friday, September 22, at 7.30pm in Northesk Parish Church. An unknown side of the tenor is revealed, along with examples of how he influenced and inspired his friends, colleagues and admirers to write for his incredible voice.

The Gilded Balloon brings Lynn Ferguson’s “Storyland” to Loretto School Theatre on Saturday, September 16, for a show described as “part chat show, part stand up, part confessional and 99.9 per cent honest”. Award-winning writer, performer, and the voice of Mac in Chicken Run and the upcoming Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget, Lynn, with the help of the audience, shows how the casual tales we tell reveal who we really are.

Live theatre returns with Right Lines Productions’ “Man Shed” – a one-man theatre piece – on Saturday, September 23 at Loretto School Theatre. Inspired by the work of the Scottish Men’s Sheds Association, the production explores the joy of sheds, the pain of loss and the comfort of friendship.

Midweek Movies also return to their new home at Loretto School Theatre, with raked seating and a large screen. Films start promptly at 7.30pm, with no trailers shown. Barbie (12A) is on Wednesday, September 13, and Oppenheimer (15) on Wednesday, September 27.

JMG Music brings two lively concerts of Irish country music to Loretto School Theatre, starting with Philomena Begley & Guests on Friday, September 8 at 7.30pm.

The Stars Of Irish Country Show’s Owen Mac, Shawn Cuddy, Mick Flavin and Stephen Smyth have scored countless accolades, with over 30 number one hit songs, touring all over the world to packed houses. They each showcase their hits – singalong songs – supported by the band Keltic Storm, on Friday, September 29, at 7.30pm.
