AN APPEAL has been launched to try to trace a man in relation to an assault on board a train in East Lothian.

British Transport Police have released images of a man they believe may be able to help in their enquiries.

The train was travelling from Edinburgh Waverley to North Berwick at about 5.30pm on April 18.

Today (Thursday), a spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers believe that the male shown in the images may have information that could assist them and would urge the male or any members of the public who recognise him to contact police.

“The male is described as white, over 6ft tall, aged between 30 and 50, bald, wearing a black hooded top, black puffer jacket, black trousers, black shoes and carrying an orange carrier bag.

“The male possibly has an Eastern European accent.

“Anyone with information is urged to contact British Transport Police by text on 61016 or calling them on 0800 40 50 40 and quoting reference 2300043533.

“Alternatively, you can call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 where information can be passed anonymously.”
