Overeager skateboarders have been encouraged to keep off North Berwick’s upgraded skatepark until works are officially complete.

The message comes from NB Community Skate Park, after it revealed that some people had sneaked into the incomplete skatepark.

It has asked skateboarders to be patient as the works are due to be completed in a few weeks.

The new facility is replacing the current skatepark on the same site, bringing a more enjoyable and dynamic experience for skaters and scooter riders.

The finalised design has been created by Concreate Skateparks, a Grangemouth-based firm with more than 20 years’ experience in developing “innovative and creative skatepark terrain”.

It has been working hard to deliver the much-needed upgrade to North Berwick’s Recreation Park.

Work is still to be done on the half pipe, while surrounding landscaping also needs to be completed.

A spokesperson for the group said: “Please keep out of the new skatepark until the build is finished.

“The site is still a live building site and the potential for injury or damage is very high.

“The fencing has been reinforced and it would be a shame to halt the build for that quick skate fix.

“The half pipe will be fenced off, ready for its resurfacing, which is very exciting news.

“We know it is frustrating to not have a skatepark at the moment but we are doing everything we can to get the new park ready for you all and we are only four weeks away from completion.

“Concreate Skateparks Ltd have been working flat out to make this happen and we are all delighted with the progress. Thank you for all your patience and support.

“The good skate times are just around the corner.”

It also confirmed that there would be an official opening event to celebrate the upgraded park, but details are still to be confirmed.
