DESIGNS have been unveiled for a scheme aimed at reducing the risk of flooding throughout Musselburgh.

A two-day exhibition offering people the chance to see the proposed outline design and view a 3D animation is being offered today (Tuesday) and tomorrow (Wednesday).

Members of the project team are at Eskmills Venue in the town from 10am to 8pm.

A spokesperson for the scheme encouraged people to head along to the exhibition, which features a number of boards with drawings outlining what is being proposed at various sites along the River Esk and also Rosebery Reservoir and Edgelaw Reservoir.

They said: “The initial outline design being presented is a major step in the design journey and an accumulation of feedback provided by the public and stakeholders over many consultations.

“It aims to deliver flood protection, enhanced landscapes, natural solutions, and a managed adaptive approach to future flood risk.

“The outline design is not yet complete and we are still eager to receive your feedback to help us refine the design.”

The flood protection plan, costing £43.5 million – 20 per cent East Lothian Council and 80 per cent Scottish Government Flood Programme – aims to introduce defences against a one-in-200-year risk of flooding in the town.
