MORE than £6,000 has been raised through a special art exhibition in Haddington.

St Mary’s Parish Church opened its doors last month for a three-day exhibition, ‘Art at St Mary’s’, as part of the 50th anniversary of its restoration celebrations.

The exhibition featured work by more than 40 local artists, showcasing not only paintings but also ceramics, glass and floral displays.

A spokesperson for the exhibition said: “The recent Art at St Mary’s exhibition was an astounding success, bringing in over 800 visitors to our church and raising over £6,000 for church funds from the sale of paintings, ceramics, stained glass, prints and cards, and from the busy cafe run by our superb catering team.

“The amazing and unique floral displays created by our talented flower team complemented the art exhibition and drew much admiration.

“The organisers, Alison and Stewart Meikle and artist Kirsten Boston, were delighted with how everything went over the weekend and wish to thank all those who helped, supported or took part in this fundraising event.”
