A fundraiser for North Berwick’s new skatepark is taking place this weekend.

The project has been headed up by North Berwick Community Skatepark Project (NBCSP) – a group dedicated to bringing the first-class facility to the town.

Construction is already under way after funding was secured to replace the existing facility at Recreation Park, which was deemed “unfit for purpose”.

It is hoped the fundraiser will generate additional cash to go towards installing floodlights so that the park can be used throughout the winter months.

The event takes place this Sunday, 6-8.30pm, at Steampunk, on Kirk Ports, with “pizza, tunes and prizes”. Tickets are £15 for adults and £10 for under-16s, and include pizza and entry to the raffle.

Lewis Houghton, chair of NBCSP, said: "We are giving our fundraising a final push with a fun event on May 28 from 6pm to 8.30pm at Steampunk.

"We really want to have lighting at the park to ensure it can be used in the darker months and also offer children who don’t have a scooter, skateboard or helmet a chance to borrow kit free at weekends and in the holidays when the park reopens.

"Those that come along to the fundraiser will be able to enjoy superb Pizza by Chris and great tunes from Orange Moon and get up to speed with the skatepark build.

"Included in the ticket price is a raffle ticket and we’ve got a host of fabulous prizes to be won – restaurant and shopping vouchers, golf days, Transgression and Roller skating vouchers, skateboards and merchandise and much more.

"If people can’t come along on May 28 they can still buy raffle tickets – just contact us through our Facebook or Instagram".
