National Museum of Flight

Rated a 4.5/5 on the travel review site, the National Museum of Flight, at East Fortune, is the home to dozens of the country's most famous and well-built planes.

Whether you and the family want to explore the history of aviation from World War One or want to step inside Concorde, the museum has it all.

Belhaven Brewery

One of the country's oldest surviving independent breweries, a visit to Belhaven Brewery is an experience not to be missed by beer lovers.

The brewery was given a 5/5 from 158 reviews with one person praising the Dunbar location, saying: "Our guide was entertaining, knowledgeable and generous!! Nearly had a lock in!!! :-) I wholeheartedly recommend this tour."

John Muir's Birthplace

John Muir, known as the Father of Conservation, is one of the county's  most famous sons and is well-known for his ecological thinking, political and religious beliefs and his advocacy.

A rainy day is the perfect opportunity to learn more about his world-changing work after he moved from Dunbar to the States as a boy.

NB Distillery

A family-run institution, NB Distillery produces unique vodkas and gins and has won multiple awards.

The site also offers a luxury visitor experience, allowing guests to sample, learn and relax while checking out the "majestic copper stills" that hold the brand's sought-after drinks.

Also ranked a 5/5, one user called the distillery, south east of North Berwick,  "a must for gin drinkers", adding: "A very pleasant 90 min your with the opportunity to see how their gins are made and have several tastings.

"Good gin as well which was a bonus."

Coastal Communities Museum

For a fascinating insight into the culture and heritage of East Lothian's coastal communities, try visiting the Coastal Communities Museum in North Berwick, which is run by a team of enthusiastic locals.

One user called the museum an "unexpected treasure" with another saying: "This is one of the best local museums I have ever visited. It is free and run by a team of very enthusiastic and friendly volunteers who are very proud of the museum and keen to help each visitor."

Dunbar Leisure Pool
