M&CO will close its doors in Haddington for the last time on Saturday.

The clothing retailer announced at the end of last year that it would be shutting branches across the country.

Administrators from financial advisory firm Teneo were appointed in a bid to find a sale.

However, it was later confirmed that the Haddington store and the Musselburgh branch, which closed earlier this month, were among those shutting.

Posters highlighting potential savings and the upcoming closure cover many of the windows in the Court Street shop.

When the announcement was made, Councillor John McMillan, who is East Lothian Council’s spokesman for economic development, described it as “a worrying time for employees of the M&Co branches in Haddington and Musselburgh”.

Therese Laing, chairwoman of Haddington’s community council, offered her sympathies to staff.

She previously described the closure as “a huge miss in Haddington”.
