EAST Lothian's MSP has been awarded a new position in the new First Minister's Government as Humza Yousaf announced a reshuffle.

Mr Yousaf was elected by members of the SNP to lead the party following the resignation of long-standing First Minister Nicola Sturgeon.

As part of the changes, the county's MSP Paul McLennan has now taken up the position of Minister of Housing, which was previously part of the portfolio of the Cabinet Secretary for Social Justice, Housing and Local Government.

Shona Robison held this role until yesterday, but she has now taken up the role of Cabinet Secretary for Finance previously held by Kate Forbes.

Mr McLennan shared his delight at taking up the role and hoped he could make a difference across the country.

He said: "It's an honour to be asked to serve in the Scottish Government as Minister for Housing.

"I look forward to working with people across government, in our communities, in local authorities and in development to continue addressing the housing needs of communities across Scotland."
