Nominations are being sought for the East Lothian Inspiring Volunteer Awards 2023 hosted by Volunteer Centre East Lothian (VCEL).

The awards celebrate individual volunteers and groups for their voluntary contributions to the community.

Based in Tranent, VCEL says it wants to recognise and celebrate the achievements, efforts and impact volunteers make within the county.

People can nominate a volunteer or team of volunteers they think deserve recognition.

Awards are given out in the following categories: Community Volunteer of the Year; Environmental & Education Volunteer of the Year; Health & Wellbeing Volunteer of the Year; Outstanding Trustee of the Year; Volunteer Team of the Year; Young Volunteer of the Year (25 and under); and Lifelong Commitment to Volunteering.

Nominations are open until 5pm on Monday, April 5.

Nomination forms can be collected by calling VCEL on 01875 615423 or on the VCEL website.

Maureen Allan, VCEL chief officer, said: “Volunteers make a huge contribution in all our communities and I think it is important that we recognise this.

“The awards ceremony will be held during Volunteers’ Week, which is between June 1 and 7 this year.

“I want to encourage local organisations to think about making nominations for their volunteers. I look forward to sharing a very special evening with nominees and local organisations.”
