The Brunton in Musselburgh hosts Unbecoming, a solo live art performance, as part of a Scottish tour.

Created and performed by Anna Porubcansky, the show, directed by Ewan Downie, is presented by theatre company Company of Wolves.

Using traditional song, myth, movement and immersive soundscapes, Unbecoming exposes the rage and loss of a woman who has become everything to everyone, except to herself.

Anna said: “This performance first began as an attempt for me to understand my own emotional responses when my first child was born.

“Becoming a mother tore every shred of who I thought I was away from me. I got lost in a vortex of conflicting emotion, demands and responsibilities so much bigger than myself.

“It made me question who I am as a woman; who I was as a girl; what I’ve lost and gained along the way.

“I needed to have all of that taken away in order to start understanding what I was missing.”

The performance, for those aged 16 and over, is supported by the National Lottery through Creative Scotland and Creative Scotland’s Touring Fund.

The show is at The Brunton on Saturday, March 18, at 7.30pm.
