A TULIP tree has been planted in a popular Dunbar park as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy project.

Thousands of trees have already been planted through the initiative, which was created to celebrate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee last year. Following her death last September, the scheme was extended into 2023 to give people the chance to plant trees in memoriam to honour Her Majesty.

Jacquie Bell, secretary of Dunbar Community Council, was joined in Lauderdale Park last month by Mike Foy, forestry officer for East Lothian Council, to plant the tulip tree on behalf of the community council.

Already, cherry trees have been planted on the town’s Queens Road as part of the scheme.
