A concert celebrating the 10-year anniversary of Preston Lodge High School Pipe Band has taken place, with 130 youngsters gracing the stage.
High school pupils, along with many younger musicians from the surrounding primary schools, provided an evening of entertainment.
The event was declared a “tremendous showcase” for the schools’ talents and a shining endorsement of the band, which has grown considerably since its humble beginnings 10 years ago.
A spokesperson for the school said: “We were so happy to welcome our amazing community into our assembly hall to spend time with 130 (yes, 130!) of our PL and cluster primary students sharing their talent.
“It is 10 years since our first pipe band formed, and Monday and Wednesday evening’s concerts were a tremendous showcase for the talents of our young people.
“It really was really lovely watching the development of early chanter and drum pad skills reach full expression as students grow older and become part of an awe-inspiring team.
“The combination of power and dexterity is both humbling and moving.
“Thank you so much to our primary students and their families who joined us for the evening.
“We can’t wait until you become PLers, and what better introduction to PL events than this week’s concerts?
“From very humble beginnings, our bands have become a huge demonstration of all we hold dear, and our juvenile band are now the best state school pipe band in… the world – an amazing achievement.”
