Members of Tranent Parish Church were out helping Tranent Wombles keep the streets clean on Sunday.

Community group the Wombles provided the church with some litter picking equipment to allow the 17 volunteers to pick up 10 bags of rubbish from Church Street, Fowler Street and Elphinstone Road.

Litter pickers also managed to find a vintage tin bath whilst out picking too.

The church has committed to a monthly litter pick with the Wombles to help them in the work that they do.

A spokesperson for Tranent Wombles said: "A massive shout out to Tranent Parish Church’s litter picking team for their efforts.

“A team of 17 cleared an area around Church Street, Fowler Street and Elphinstone Road, collecting 10 bags and a vintage tin bath!

“With your commitment to do a monthly litter pick, what a difference we'll make together.”
