Tranent, Wallyford and Macmerry ward councillor Colin McGinn has praised East Lothian Council for its prompt closure of the recycling point next to Aldi in Tranent due to fly-tipping.
The council closed the site last month, after Tranent Wombles cleared the site of 50 bags of litter.

At a meeting of Tranent and Elphinstone Community Council, Mr McGinn praised the work of the council and the Wombles.
He said: “I met with Tranent Wombles after what had happened and I was shocked to hear how many bags of litter they had collected.
“Fifty bags is disgusting and I’m pleased the council acted so quickly to close the area.
“It’s a real shame because those who are fly-tipping have now ruined the site for everyone who was using it properly, but unfortunately not much can be done.
“It doesn’t seem to matter what you do to discourage it, some people don’t seem to care.
“Everything that could be recycled there can be done at your doorstep and, while it’s a shame to see it closed, the level of rubbish there was unacceptable.”
