VANDALISED goalposts at the artificial grass football pitch at Recreation Park have left a youth football club unable to host 11-a-side matches.
North Berwick Football Club’s older age groups are having to play league and cup games away from home.
The full-size goalposts were damaged late last year.
enjoyleisure, which operates the facility, has confirmed it is placing an order for replacement posts which will be delivered “in due course”.
Bill Axon, enjoyleisure chief executive, said: “The goals at Recreation Park have been out of action and are now deemed irreparable by external contractors. These goals are not inexpensive and damage caused by improper use is a concern; repair will always be our first option.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused clubs who regularly use this facility.”
Younger age groups at the football club can still play games at the facility as they use smaller-sized goals.
