ROADWORKS near Dunbar Grammar School will be in place until into the February school break.

Virgin Media is installing fibre optic network cables on the town’s Summerfield Road.

Concerns had been raised that residents of the street were not made aware of the planned works, something which Virgin Media denied.

They said letters were sent to residents towards the end of last year to highlight the works, which started on Monday, before they got under way.

The work is due to last for 16 days.

A spokesperson for Virgin Media told the Courier that a project coordinator had been sent to speak to residents about any concerns.

They said: "We’re currently expanding our network in Dunbar to bring gigabit broadband to more homes and businesses in the area.

"We always aim to minimise disruption and will continue talking to residents while works take place.”
