A GROUP of volunteers braved the snow and ice to help East Lothian Countryside Rangers clear a path which runs from Athelstaneford Primary School to Garleton Hills making it easier to travel on.
The Rangers worked with a number of volunteers from the community to cut back ivy and trim branches that were encroaching on the path and make it easier for people to walk through.
After the work an East Lothian Countryside Ranger spokesperson said: “Several of our path wardens braved the snow, ice and cold wind last week to undertake path repair work at Athelstaneford.
“To be fair we didn’t stay cold for long with all the hard work that was taking place!
“The path has been cleared and the surface improved. A great job by all!
An East Lothian Council spokesperson said: "This is a popular path for people enjoying the countryside but required some minor improvement works.
“The group of volunteers helped the Countryside Rangers cut back encroaching ivy and trim overhanging branches and then infilled steps at this section of the path.
“Volunteers assist the Countryside Rangers with a range of conservation projects across the county and anyone interested in becoming involved can find out more on the council website."
