A masquerade dance and dinner will be held at the Ravelston House Hotel in Musselburgh on February 18 for Edinburgh’s Royal Hospital for Children and Young People.

Tickets are £30 to attend and guests will be treated to a three-course meal, a glass of Prosecco on arrival and a chance to get involved in a raffle.

Tickets can be purchased by contacting the hotel.

The evening is a black tie event and guests should dress smartly and bring a masquerade mask with them for a 6.30pm arrival time. All profits will be donated to the hospital.

Gaileen Mackinnon, from Edinburgh, is organising the event and chose the Musselburgh location as her daughters work at the hotel.

She has previously held a number of fundraising events there, including a Christmas fair last month and a disco last Friday for the hospital.

She said: “I have raised funds for various charities over the years, I love to try and help different charities, but I wanted to raise funds for [the hospital] as I have nine grandkids and a few of them have had stays in the hospital, so it’s good to give something back.

“We really hope to get more people involved in coming along to support us. We have only sold 28 tickets so far.

“We expected it to be something people would love to attend so fingers crossed we get more sold.

“Our charity nights are always very successful and people always have a good time, so anyone who comes along will be in for a great night with food, drink, music and games.”

Gaileen has appealed to Musselburgh businesses for donations towards the raffle, which she hopes to draw at the event.

She said: “We’ve had a few vouchers donated already, which is great, but as it’s a masquerade ball we were hoping for donations like hampers, hair salon vouchers, meal vouchers or spa vouchers, but any donations are appreciated. If people have a donation to make, we would happily collect it.”
