CLEANING products have been sold door-to-door in Dunbar by people who are allegedly claiming to be former prisoners.

The unusual incidents were highlighted by the town’s police in a report to Dunbar Community Council, which met on Monday evening.

The report highlighted that there could be offences being committed.

It read: “Several calls received regarding ex-prisoners going door-to-door selling household items as part of their rehabilitation and integration back into society.

“From a police perspective, there may be licensing offences, i.e. no pedlars certificate, and would encourage householders to ask to see their certificates.”
