A SUCCESSFUL business has asked East Lothian Council to allow it to hold taster sessions on its premises.

Buck and Birch has been based in Macmerry Industrial Estate since January 2019.

The building is used for producing spirits, liqueurs and cocktails, and is also home to a sales and tasting area.

Now the business is looking for retrospective planning permission to allow taster events to be held at the site.

A planning application has been lodged with the council, including a design and access statement which stresses that the application “does not relate to the opening of a public house or bar”.

It continues: “Modest tasting events are held as and when they are requested by a party.

“Each event operates on a bespoke booking.

“Such events are likely to take place of an evening, and at a frequency of once per fortnight. It is anticipated that parties would not exceed eight persons.”
