A Tranent woman is appealing for help to put her four-year-old dog through potentially life-saving surgery.

Chloe Brown has started a Just Giving page to raise the £6,000 needed for her dog Evie’s treatment for spinal arachnoid diverticulum (SAD).

Chloe said on the page: “Our much-loved four-year-old doggy needs an operation for her spinal arachnoid diverticulum (SAD), a cyst-like structure containing spinal fluid causing compression of the spinal cord and fluid accumulation within the spinal cord in the upper neck area.

“This is blocking her signals from her brain to her paws which means she’s losing power and without the operation she will end up paralysed, incontinent and result in her being put to sleep.

“This is not something we would normally do but a good friend suggested we ask the local community and fellow dog lovers for help.

“She is part of the family and we will do anything to help her because we cannot bare the thought of her suffering.

“Any help would be greatly appreciated and we will have more information regarding dates soon and will be planning fundraisers for our girl”

The page has raised £265 so far with some donators leaving comments on the page.

One person wrote: “I know it’s not much but pets are family! Good luck.”

Another said: “From one dog mum to another. Hope you reach your target.”

And a third added: “She is such an amazing wee dog; hope she's OK.”
