A FORMER restaurant at the heart of Haddington could be transformed into a coffee shop and flats.
Number 7, on the town’s Market Street, is being earmarked for development by Ms V McMillan.
Proposals submitted to East Lothian Council’s planning department show both the current layout and how it would look if the scheme was given the go-ahead.
Most recently, the ground floor of the building, which dates back to the mid-1700s, was used as a restaurant, with a function room and billiards room to the rear.
The first floor of the building has seven rooms used as offices, with the second floor featuring another three offices.
For decades, until 2014, the building was home to Haddington Conservative Club.
Drawings included with the latest application show a coffee shop, with ‘no cooking’, would be created at the front of the building on the ground floor.
To the rear of the commercial premises would be a two-bedroom property, with one of the bedrooms en-suite.
The home would also include an open plan lounge, dining and kitchen area, with neighbouring utility room and shower room.
Upstairs would feature two more two-bedroom properties, with a further two-bedroom flat on the second floor.
A decision on the proposals is expected towards the end of next month.
