CONCERNS are growing for the welfare of a 14-year-old girl from Prestonpans who went missing yesterday afternoon.

Holly Monteith was last seen in Prestonpans at about 3pm yesterday and has since been spotted in the Meadowbank area of Edinburgh and in Edinburgh city centre in the early hours of this morning.

Officers are now appealing for information as there have been no reports of her whereabouts since this last sighting.

A police spokesperson said: "East Lothian Police are currently trying to trace Holly Monteith, reported missing from the Prestonpans area of East Lothian on Tuesday, January 3, 2023.

"Holly is 14 years old and was last seen around 3pm in Prestonpans.

"She was subsequently reported to have been seen in the Meadowbank area of Edinburgh in the early hours of this morning, Wednesday 4th January 2023, and thereafter in the Edinburgh City Centre area; however has not been seen since, and there are growing concerns for her welfare.

"Holly is described as 5’1”, with long dark brown hair. She was last seen wearing a tan jacket with fur, tan leggings and black and white converse shoes."

"Anyone who may have seen Holly, or who has any information on her whereabouts, is urged to contact Police Scotland via 101 quoting incident number 3284 of 3rd January 2023"
