PUPILS are being encouraged to collect their plastic bottle tops, which can then be used to make traffic cones or bollards.

Dunbar Rotary Club has teamed up with the town’s primary and secondary schools for the recycling initiative. Already, two collection points are in place at Dunbar Primary School.

The collection points were made by members of Dunbar Men’s Shed and one has already been filled.

A third bottle top holder is now being made for Dunbar Grammar School.

Robin Hamilton, youth committee chairman of Dunbar Rotary Club, thanked the Men’s Shed for their help.

The bottle tops can be turned into pellets that then go into the manufacturing of items such as traffic bollards and cones.
