MUCH of East Lothian was given a dusting of snow this morning for the first time this winter, as a cold snap got under way in the county.

Weather forecasters had predicted light snowfall in the county this morning and more snow is predicted to fall this afternoon, though again any snowfall is likely to be light.

Yellow warnings of ice are in place until 12pm on Friday and people are urged to take care when out and about as some surfaces may be slippery.

Temperatures are expected to hover around freezing for the next week or so but most days are predicted to be snow-free at this stage.

However, light snow showers are forecast for much of Saturday.
