MUSSELBURGH slumped to another defeat as Preston Lodge won, North Berwick edged out Broughton and Ross High beat Haddington in this weekend’s round of rugby fixtures.

It was defeat again for Musselburgh as they couldn’t follow up their win against Marr and lost 34-5 away to Currie Chieftains in the Tennent’s Premiership.

Musselburgh took the lead early on through a try from Fionn Call but the conversion was unsuccessful. It was all down hill from there though as the hosts rallied to 22-5 at the break before making it 34-5 in the second half.

Musselburgh are bottom of the league and next face a tough away game against league leaders Hawick, who are unbeaten this season, on Saturday (November 19).

In the Tennent’s National League Division Two Preston Lodge ran out 43-20 winners over Newton Stewart at home. Dale Gordon, Nathan Ross and James Johnstone were amongst the try scorers for Preston Lodge.

The county side now sit fifth in the table and next face seventh placed Berwick away from home next Saturday (November 26).

In the Tennent’s East Region League Division One North Berwick edged out a narrow 24-26 win away to Broughton.

The win keeps North Berwick top of the table with their fixture at home to Ross High on November 26 in the National Shield third round.

Ross High were also victorious as they beat fellow county side Haddington 43-21 to keep the pressure on North Berwick. Ross High sit second, seven points behind the league leaders with a game in hand to play away to third placed Broughton on Saturday (November 19).

Meanwhile Haddington sit fifth in the table and next face East Kilbride on November 26 away from home in the National Shield.

Dunbar had a free weekend this weekend in the Tennent’s East Region League Division Two and their next league fixture is against bottom placed Hawick Linden, who are just one place and nine points behind Dunbar, on November 26 at home.
