Musselburgh Windsor under-18 girls are off to the Scottish Youth Challenge Cup final after a thumping 6-2 victory over Dumbarton United at the Oriam.

They now face a final match up with Drumchapel United at Ochilview in Stenhousemuir hoping to take home some cup glory.

The girls started off in imperious fashion, pressing the Dumbarton defence in efforts to force a mistake and grab a foothold in the match.

This came when after a poor goal kick, Emma Hume stole the ball from the Dumbarton defender, drove into the box before smashing it in at the near post to take the lead.

Windsor were dominant in the early stages, and after missing a few chances, they made it two through Chelsea Evitt.

The Musselburgh number 10 took the ball down brilliantly out wide before making her way into the box, her shot saved but Evitt was on hand to finish the job.

Hume completed her brace not long after, stealing in behind the defence after a neat ball over the top and finishing smartly.

Windsor looked comfortable at 3-0, weathering some Dumbarton pressure to maintain their clean sheet at the break.

They would make it four just after the break. Nicole Hogg drove into the box and rounded the goalkeeper before smashing it home.

Dumbarton didn't give up though, and Eva McInnes got a goal back after a pinpoint finish at the far post.

Hogg scored the goal of the game not long after though, an exquisite chip left the on-rushing goalkeeper in no man's land to secure her brace and kill the tie.

The sixth came from a corner as Evitt grabbed her second with a well taken volley inside the box.

Dumbarton would pull another back through Kyla McInnes after a goalmouth scramble but it would do nothing to deter a dominant Windsor side.

Samantha Windram, head coach, said after the game: "I'm absolutely buzzing, it was a very good game for the girls.

"So thrilled for them to even get to this point, but to win it, make it to the final is even better. They deserve it.

"To reach a Scottish Cup final and to have won a League Cup in the first part of the season – it's very positive for the club and good for girls' football as well."

The final against Drumchapel United takes place on Sunday, November 20 and the kick-off time is still to be confirmed.
