North Berwick's celebrated green spaces were featured on one of BBC TV's most high-profile shows... but the segment was aired everywhere except Scotland!

A TV crew from The One Show recently visited the Britain in Bloom finalist town and highlighted the efforts of its North Berwick in Bloom volunteers.

Libby Morris, chair of North Berwick in Bloom, was interviewed and explained how parts of the town had been transformed by the planting of new herbs and vegetables.

She also described how the volunteers were removing invasive species from the sand dunes to keep them under control and maintain the beauty of the town's coastline.

The One Show is aired on BBC One on weeknights at 7pm but not in Scotland on Tuesdays and Thursdays as it makes way for Scottish soap River City.

And, sadly for North Berwick, the short film on the town was broadcast on Tuesday's programme. . . so it only went out to the rest of the UK!

However, it can be watched on 'catch-up' TV services.

A BBC Scotland spokesperson said: "River City has been airing on BBC One Scotland at 7pm on Tuesday and Thursday for over a year now.

"The scheduling of local programming sometimes results in displacement of network shows and we aim to have regular slots for these giving the audience consistency.

"Viewers can watch The One Show live on BBC iPlayer or catch-up later."

North Berwick in Bloom is flying the flag for Scotland in the Royal Horticultural Society Britain in Bloom competition (coastal category).

The winners will be announced on Monday at 7pm on The One Show.

North Berwick is up against Herm Island, Guernsey; St. Helier, Jersey; Sandown Green Town Volunteers, Isle of Wight; and Sidmouth in Bloom, Devon.

The only other Scottish finalist in the competition is Linlithgow, in the town category.
