The Fraser Centre in Tranent is set to host the launch of community group East Lothian Climate Action Network (ELCAN) on Wednesday, from 7pm to 9pm.

The launch will feature presentations by several member groups, including Friends of the Earth East Lothian, Climate Friendly Aberlady, Climate Action East Linton, Sustaining Dunbar, Fixing For A Future, Low Impact Lifestyle, Volunteer Centre East Lothian, Growing at Gilmerton, Tranent Wombles and The Ridge.

ELCAN will be working to support community-led action on climate change by connecting East Lothian community groups “who share goals for a better climate”.

Ian Malcolm, ELCAN co-ordinator, said: “While serving to introduce the aims of the East Lothian network and the diversity and commitment of the community groups and organisations within it, this important event will also gather views from those attending on what the main functions, priorities and structure of a future, staffed East Lothian climate action hub should be.

“Following the event, we will take time to consider these matters in more depth with community groups and organisations in advance of a formal application for the formation of an East Lothian hub being submitted to the Scottish Government next year.”

Elected members of East Lothian Council, area partnerships and community councils have been invited to attend the event.

Refreshments will be available for those who attend on the night and tickets can be reserved via Eventbrite at bit.ly/3DXWFME

Tickets are free but those wishing to attend must reserve their tickets online by tomorrow (Friday).
