A NORTH Berwick man has appeared in court to admit a homophobic attack on two women.

Finlay MacDonald was in the dock at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week to plead guilty to six charges relating to an incident when he spat on the couple and made rape comments.

MacDonald, 26, uttered offensive remarks to the two women and followed them to an address on the town’s Lochbridge Road in August last year.

While at the home, MacDonald repeatedly attempted to assault the women by spitting at them before he then made sexual comments to them including references of rape.

The court was told that MacDonald refused to leave the property when asked to do so and continued to make homophobic comments while also punching and headbutting the front door of the home.

MacDonald, of Lime Grove, pleaded guilty to further offences of spitting and attempting to spit on the women during his court appearance last Thursday.

Sheriff Donald Corke deferred sentence on MacDonald to next month in order for social work reports to be prepared.

MacDonald admitted six offences including behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, assaulting the women, making homophobic and sexual comments to them, and attempting to force entry to the property at Lochbridge Road, North Berwick, on August 12 last year.
