CONSTRUCTION work on nearly 250 homes on the outskirts of Dunbar gets under way early next year.

Taylor Wimpey East Scotland has acquired land off Yosemite Park, in the Hallhill area.

Pre-construction and enabling works on the site, which will have 245 new homes and apartments, got under way earlier this month.

Once complete, 25 per cent of the new homes will be affordable.

Pauline Mills, land and planning director for Taylor Wimpey East Scotland, said: “We are so pleased to have acquired the land off Yosemite Park, which cements our commitment to Dunbar.

“It will also complement our previous local developments in the Hallhill area.”

Taylor Wimpey’s Belhaven Way will provide two-bedroom apartments, and two, three, four and five-bedroom homes.

The affordable properties will comprise a mix of one and two-bedroom apartments, one and two-bedroom cottage flats, two and three-bedroom terraced homes, and four-bedroom bungalows.

An agreement is also in place for a range of community benefits, including more than £1 million set aside for education contributions and a new sports pitch west of Dunbar Primary School’s Lochend campus.
