A DRIVING ban has been handed to a man who was caught in charge of a vehicle while nearly six times over the drink-drive limit.

Richard Moore failed to co-operate with police officers and give them a roadside breath test after he had been stopped in January.

Moore, of Dairy Cottage, Thurston Manor, was found to have been in charge of his vehicle with 130mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath. The legal limit is 22mg.

The 43-year-old was arrested following the incident at High Street in Dunbar and he appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court last week to admit two offences.

Sheriff Peter McCormack banned him from driving for 16 months and told him he must pay a total fine of £450.

Moore pleaded guilty to being in charge of a vehicle with 130mg of alcohol in 100ml of breath at High Street, Dunbar, on January 20.

He also admitted to failing to co-operate with a preliminary breath test when required to do so by police officers who reasonably suspected him to be under the influence of drink or drugs during the same incident.
