A North Berwick resident has helped to bring attention to one of the town’s lesser-known features.

Susan Cameron, who owns Echo Beach Designs, noticed that one street was filled with attractive door knockers that brought an extra bit of vibrancy to the town.

Dubbing them the “knobs of North Berwick”, she took to social media to share images of the “wonderful” designs she discovered on the commute.

She said: “To be honest, I only noticed one on my way to work one day, then I noticed another on my way back – they are all in one street!”

All of her favourite are located on Victoria Road, which leads down to the harbour, and all encompass a nautical theme.

But she admitted getting a telling off by referring to them as knobs, as they are, in fact, knockers.

She told the Courier that it was the little things like the knockers that made living in North Berwick so special and she felt lucky to stay there. Susan, 55, sells painted ceramic pieces from her beach hut store at North Berwick Harbour, recently raising £7,900 for Sunflower of Peace through the sale of sunflower ceramic hearts in aid of Ukraine.

She added: “I say to all my customers at the beach hut how lucky we are to live in a town like North Berwick.

“You can just see that when you take a look around. The town has secrets round every corner and there’s always something new to discover.”
