Musselburgh sporting legend Yvonne Murray MBE will share details about her athletics career and favourite memories at an event in the town next month.

Organised by Sporting Memories, the question-and-answer session will take place at Musselburgh Rugby Club in Stoneyhill Farm Road from noon to 2pm on Wednesday, September 14.

Yvonne, a former pupil of Musselburgh Grammar School, is a former middle-distance and long-distance track and road-running athlete.

She won a bronze medal in the 3,000 metres at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul, and gold medals at this distance at the 1987 European Indoor Championships, 1993 World Indoor Championships and the 1990 European Championships.

She also won a gold medal in the 10,000 metres at the 1994 Commonwealth Games at Victoria, Canada.

Her 3,000 metres best time of 8:29.02 was set in the Olympic final of 1988.

The question-and-answer event is free to attend and refreshments will be provided.

People are advised to arrive before noon to ensure they get a seat.
